New advisers vs. the world: Epic tales of surviving your first year

Session Information

They say it takes four years to make a staff your own - but that first year? It's pure chaos. Like a video game, there are colorful characters, roadblocks and steep learning curves. Inspired by "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," this session walks you through the seven "unexpected bosses" of year one - including egotistical editors, deadlines of doom and more. Learn how to dodge disasters, earn trust and unlock power ups (snacks and awards) that help you advise with confidence. It's okay to mess up, level up and become the hero your newsroom needs - armed with grace, coffee and a red pen of destiny.
