Protecting source identities

Session Information

In the fall of 2025, the political climate requires journalists, including student journalists, to adapt in certain ways. Identifying sources is the standard practice for good reasons, but now things are different. There are more situations – such as when covering undocumented immigrant stories – where sources’ identities need to be protected for their safety. This session will give participants a chance to discuss the ins and outs of doing this legally, ethically and professionally. Time for Q&A will be included.
